My Granddaughter, Phoenix is the model for many of my paintings as, in the past was her Mum, Zoe. These are not portraits though, they are any of us, or our families enjoying the simple salty pleasures of a day at the beach.
When we were young, we would pile into the car with blankets, flasks, thick jumpers and towels and be on the beach until the evening whatever the weather.
Many years ago I did a Pastel series of Handstands on the beach, and now I am once again returning to a subject that evokes for many of us, a calm , happy place.
